About

The project

The Finds Table project is more than a a simple app — it is a tribute to curiosity, memory, and the invisible threads that connect us through time. Built for detectorists by one of their own, it offers a space where discoveries are not only recorded, but preserved — where each fragment of metal, pottery, or stone can tell the story it was meant to carry.

With Finds Table, every object finds its place. Each user can catalog their finds with care, document their searches and outings, and trace their exact paths across fields, forests, and forgotten lands. Over time, these records form a living map of exploration — a personal archaeology of discovery, crafted day by day under the wind and the rain.

Yet Finds Table's vision reaches beyond the individual. The project aims to build a shared archive of humanity's forgotten treasures — a collective memory shaped by thousands of passionate detectorists across the world. From the rugged shores of Brittany to the vast plains of England, from the sunlit fields of Spain to the forests of Scandinavia, millions of small pieces of the past are waiting to be seen again. Each one is a whisper from history — a message carried across centuries, now placed gently on the table for others to learn from, to wonder at, to study.

Detectorists hold one of the largest collections of historical artifacts ever gathered by human hands — yet most of it remains unseen, scattered, and silent. Finds Table hopes to change that. It was created to give meaning to every discovery, to ensure that no find is ever lost to time, and that together, we can weave these fragments into a larger, more complete story of who we are and where we come from.

Because what we uncover beneath the soil is not only history — it is memory, identity, and the quiet voice of humanity reaching out to be heard once more.

The Creator

My name is Eric, and I am both a web developer and a detectorist based in Brittany, France. I began building Finds Table nearly two years ago, driven by a simple belief: that the past should not fade in silence. Each find tells a story, and together those stories form the language of our shared history.

Finds Table is my way of helping the detecting community to grow strong. It is a tool crafted with patience, passion, and respect for those who spend hours searching, listening, and discovering. I hope it becomes not only a companion in your hunts, but a bridge between the past we uncover and the future we share.
